To love God in the most practical way is to love our fellow beings. If we feel for others in the same way as we feel for our own dear ones, we love God.

The basic curriculum is one of becoming free as an awareness… To the extent you are free, your act is an environment through which others can become free if they are ready to become free. So you work on yourself as a gift to other human beings. Then you use every situation you have with other human beings as a vehicle to work on yourself by seeing where you get stuck—where you push, where you grab, where you judge, where you do all the stuff.
God does not need me to defend marriage. He does not need me to block other people’s decisions. He does not need me to wade into a culture war or gang up on a minority or sow seeds of discord and fear. He does not need me to defend Him, my understanding of His best or even my way of doing life. I have much to learn. He has called me to an active, all encompassing, radical love that looks beyond all things to see the value, dignity, and humanity of each person, to speak the words ‘you are loved more than you could ever imagine’ to every soul. And then to try to live out that Love.
Now I realized that the trees blossom in the spring and bear fruit in the summer without seeking praise; and they drop their leaves in Autumn and become naked in winter without fearing blame.
